Pixel Mill Trainees 2020 applications are open
Date Posted: May 7, 2020
Pixel Mill Trainees 2020 is the new entrant scheme for aspiring video game developers. Northern Ireland Screen is looking for motivated individuals who want to develop a career in Northern Ireland’s thriving interactive sector. Are you a computer programmer with a passion for storytelling and creating digital worlds?
There are 3 places available for trainee video game developers and we expect a high level of competition. If you gain a place as a Pixel Mill Trainee, you will be given an 18-month contract (NMW/NLW) and have the opportunity to work on a range of video game and immersive projects. We will train and develop you for a career in the interactive industry and you will be assigned a senior industry mentor. You will be expected to work to tight deadlines, and you must be able to work flexibly.
Individuals applying should come from a software development background, but no specific academic qualifications are needed. However, you should be able demonstrate your ability and knowledge of a computer programming language through professional experience, personal projects or partaking in active development within the mod/indie community. More importantly we want people who can bring passion for making interactive content, be that video games or immersive, and have strong problem-solving skills.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join the professional game development and immersive industry in Northern Ireland and gain hands-on experience in gameplay programming, game development and VR/AR content creation.
During the programme participants will be moved between studios so that they can maximise the experience of working on live projects and different workflows. Companies may be based in the Pixel Mill itself or at their own premises.
