Short Film Schemes
Northern Ireland Screen runs a number of short film schemes throughout the year. These schemes are aimed at developing Northern Ireland resident creative talent (writer, director producer teams).
Short Film Schemes:
- Short Film Call (Deadline Friday 28th October)
Northern Ireland Screen supports the production of Short Films with funding via the Short Film Call.
- Shorts to Features (currently closed)
A scheme which provides an opportunity for emerging creative teams to create a short film which is tonally and thematically aligned with their feature film ambitions.
An initiative to find Northern Ireland resident filmmakers exclusively from groups that are underrepresented in the film and television sector. This includes Females 30+, Disabled applicants, Black and minority ethnic (BME) applicants and Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual and Transgender applicants.
- Creative Animation (currently closed)
This scheme is intended to develop Northern Ireland resident junior creators/animators through the production of animated short films.
MARKETING SUPPORT FOR SHORTS
Northern Ireland Screen can provide support for new and emerging writers, directors and producers to attend one screening of their Northern Ireland Screen supported live action, animation, factual, or fiction short film at an international Oscar or BAFTA accredited film festival.
To be eligible for this support, your short film must be in receipt of an invitation to screen at one of the international film festivals on the Oscar or Bafta accredited film festivals lists. Screenings at UK and Ireland Oscar or BAFTA accredited film festivals are NOT eligible.
Short filmmakers must apply as soon as their short film has been invited to screen at an international Oscar or BAFTA accredited international film festival.
