Applications now open for Two Minute Masterpiece 2018
Date Posted: March 9, 2018
Two Minute Masterpiece is an exciting initiative for emerging female producers/directors in Northern Ireland to have their voices heard. The initiative is made available through the BBC Arts Show in partnership with Northern Ireland Screen.
The five films commissioned as part of last year’s inaugural initiative; Rosehill, Snapshots, Star Factory, Surrealistic Self and Visible, showcased the breadth of talent and stories that female film makers in Northern Ireland wanted to tell. Love, loss, surrealism, developmental disorders, matriarchal societies and female empowerment are just some of the themes explored in these films. Screenings in cities as diverse as Derry and Delhi are testament to the universality and importance of last year’s Two Minute Masterpiece films.
If you are aged 18-30, based in Northern Ireland and female this could be your opportunity to create a special film that will be screened on a BBC platform.
Your short art film must have a musical aspect at its core. It could feature a performance or have a specially created score underpinning the film. Alternatively, it could tell the story of a musical artist, band or work. It could be a drama, a documentary, a music video or an animation – we’ll leave that bit entirely up to you.
The closing date for receipt of entries is Wednesday 28th March.
10 shortlisted film makers will be invited to a mentoring session in BBC Northern Ireland on the evening of Tuesday 10th April. Shortlisted candidates will then have a few days to update their proposal and resubmit it ahead of the pitching sessions on Friday 13th April.
The five successful filmmakers will be paired with a mentor and each awarded a small production fund (£1000) to make the film.
