Cinemagic calling on young writers & illustrators to enter PROJECTIONS FROM ISOLATION initiative
Date Posted: May 7, 2020
In these unpredictable times of self-isolation, containment and vital stay at home perspective; Cinemagic want to create a positive and genuine project that celebrates ideas of community, togetherness and a shared love of cinemas. Although we can’t physically visit our local picture house, we can take time to think about why we love cinemas and what we love about them. Perhaps cherished memories of a first visit; or the people we watch movies with; or an important weekly ritual that excites, thrills and astounds us.
Cinemagic is inviting young writers and illustrators (aged 16-25 years old) to submit a piece of work that represents their passion for cinemas and cinema culture. For writers this can be a short essay, story (500 words max.) or a poem. For illustrators this can be a drawing or visual representation; perhaps a portrait of a cinema, a cinema worker or something more experimental and abstract. Cinemagic plan to celebrate, document and preserve a number of the submitted pieces into a printed work titled ‘Projections from Isolation’.
This opportunity is open to young writers and illustrators throughout Ireland and Northern Ireland.
